Best Practices for Verifying Your Google Business Profile via Video

Best Practices for Google Business Profile Video Verification

Google Business Profiles (GBP) are a great way for local businesses to get noticed online. But before people can see your profile, you need to verify it by clicking the “Get Verified” link.

When you set up your GBP, Google asks you to confirm that your business is real and meets their guidelines. One way they do this is through video verification. It’s like a digital version of Google visiting your business in person.

The video verification helps Google check that:

  • Your business is real.
  • It’s in the location you say it is.
  • You have the authority to represent the business.

To complete video verification, you’ll need to shoot a short, continuous video (about two minutes) using your phone. In the video, you’ll need to show the outside and inside of your business, any signs, tools, and proof that you’re a legitimate company.

Make sure to follow these tips:

  1. Start by showing the outside of your business, including street signs and nearby businesses.
  2. Show your branding and signage both outside and inside.
  3. Walk inside and show areas not open to the public, like behind the counter or office spaces.
  4. If you’re a service business, show your equipment and branded vehicles.
  5. If you have a license or official documents, zoom in on those too.

Google doesn’t need to see personal details or confidential info, and the video won’t be made public. Once you’ve recorded the video, upload it through the Google Business Profile app, and Google will review it within five days. If everything checks out, your business will be verified, and you can continue improving your profile.
